Company President Irwin Bear's philosophy on giving is based on his religious belief that to save one life is as if you save the world. He believes that since most of us have received something from the community at some time, we eventually have to give back.

To that end, P&B is one of the most philanthropic companies in the industry. It supports the quilting community in a multitude of ways, creating a patchwork quilt to envelop the world in comfort and caring.

In addition to fabric donations for charity projects, P&B also supports the quilting community through a variety of contributions:

Fat packs for door prizes, store openings and other events promoting quilting.
Loans from the corporate quilt collection for guild shows and other events.
Sponsorship of major quilt shows and selected smaller shows.
Prize money and/or fabric for major quilt shows, fairs and fabric challenges.
Donations in the form of sponsorships to quilt museums and other quilt-related nonprofit groups promoting quilting education and historical preservation.
Donations of cash to charities from yardage sold, such as ABC Quilts, which is receiving a portion of the profits of the Buddy and the Starbabies fabric collection.
Donations of fabric and money on yardage sold of the Ribbons of Social Concern fabric group, featuring fabric with different colored ribbons, representing breast cancer, AIDS, non-violence and missing persons.
A benefit book, Sew with the Stars, which so far has raised over $275,000 for breast cancer research. As the chairman of the Home Sewing Association's "Sew for the Cure" fundraising project, Mr. Bear was overseeing a million-dollar campaign. The brainchild of Mr. Bear, the book features 13 quilt projects donated by quilters such as Alex Anderson, Elly Sienkiewicz and and Piece O' Cake Designs, with all profits going to three breast cancer research organizations: The American Cancer Society, the National Alliance of Breast Cancer Organizations and the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

To purchase a copy of Sew with the Stars, please send a check made out to P&B Textiles for $24 (which includes postage and handling), and send it to the address below. From your check, $20 will go directly to the Sew with the Stars fundraising campaign.
